Great page. I made a few suggested modifications to headings, to keep it more in line with the formatting guide. Could you credit the source of the video.

Excellent page. I added a few headings (from the suggested format guide). You might consider moving the video sample up after the overview and give it a heading of "Example".

You've done some really great work on this page. It is very informative and links to a good selection of examples and further resources. As a few suggestions (1) you might consider moving the heading 'examples' and a few representative samples of VT being used to the top, under the general overview and (2) in the section on 'educational uses' you might distinguish between links to samples and links to additional information/resources. Just check the flow of your information and the placement of the links.

I used http://www.edmodo.com/ with middle school students successfully. It is Twitter on training wheels. It gave me the ability to make offensive/inappropriate posts go away (necessary with middle school).

Hi- I finally have the chance I've wanted. I'm going to a new school as a tech coordinator/teacher. The strategy is for me to star w/the youngest group in the school, SO, I will teach the 7th grade. I could have made a long sotry short, but Edmodo sounds like what I'm looking for. The principal wants them to experience socializing, but wants to make sure they're safe. Thanks very much for the tip. -Skip

Interesting that both cohorts (SS2008 and SS2009) have struggled with the "Has anyone been able to move or delete..." issue. Initially, even when logged in to the site, the More>>> link was limited in options, and did NOT include the delete, rename, or move a page. AfterDr. Mims (site owner) upgraded my permissions, those choices were available.

In wet paint, there is usually an option under "more tools" to move a page but there is not that option here (unless I am missing it). I've tried in 3 different browsers. Does anyone else have the option to move pages? If possible, it might be a good idea to rearrange the pages in the sequence suggested on the course topics page.

you have to sign in with your username and password to see the "more tools" option on the page you want to delete (or change the title for). We can edit the pages without signing in, but the "more tools" won't show unless you are signed in. There is a drop down list of options

Hi I would like to write a course proposal to submit to my district for a tech. class at my middle school. The students have no technology classes and instead are supposed to be getting the knowledge in their other classes through integration. I am currently the art teacher (MA in art ed) and a peer tech. coach for another teacher but would like to teach some classes to the students in Web 2.0 tools, or even basic computer skills . Does anyone have ideas on how I should proceed to create the most useful course and a professional proposal? Any help with wording, content I should cover, etc would be great. Thanks so much, c

Check out the middle school curriculum from Indiana. Pam Raines has done a lot of research and development for a computer applications course in middle school. Now she is exploring Web 2.0 tools for the classroom. http://www.doe.state.in.us/octe/bme/curriculum/contentstandards.htm another site - http://www.nelms.org/blog/index.php?blog=2&cat=19

I am new to the group (hello). I have just been handed intro to PC and Intermediate PC lab five days before the start of school. I feel confident with Intro, but I have a classroom of know it all mid-midhigh level students in PC lab that I have no plan for. I will use them for part of the time building computers for the district (a successful program in our district), but I am at a loss as to the rest of their time. I can run a "project based" class, but I see chaos in the future. I also run the risk of losing them to boredom if I don't give them something meaty. Any ideas. Thanks.
PS; hope everyone has a great year.

Do we really need author names and links on a site map or table of contents? The purpose of such a page is to direct viewers to the correct locations, not for author credit. Credit is given on individual pages. I vote to remove names and keep the focus on the content.

My principal did exactly that-did you confer with him? He asked me how to integrate content about Shakespeare (he was teaching a 12th grade English class) using technology. I am so gullible! I put out feelers on Ning, Twitter, Skype, with professors I know, I went all out....and then....He said it was only a test....I was infuriated! He thought it was great that I had things for him to integrate, including Shakespearan experts, within 10 minutes. I still fail to see the humor...
