Community tags are only available in Catalog QuickSearch. To see results using existing community tags, search: newbery winner, memphis reads, gekiga Catalog Classic (http://bibliotech.memphis.edu/) Use Classic when you want specific results. Examples: RODP (http://bibliotech.memphis.edu/search/m?SEARCH=RODP&searchscope=4) Lists all databases that can be used with RODP distance education classes Images (http://bibliotech.memphis.edu/search/m?SEARCH=Images&searchscope=4) Lists sources of images in all disciplines--all freely accessible online. For news related to databases and online resources, see the Databases News blog(https://umwiki.memphis.edu/pages/viewrecentblogposts.action?key=KayC) available on the main Database Search page or through the UMWiki. Embedding licensed resources in courseware:ArticlesDatabases that make embedding articles easy include the OmniFile and EBSCOHost databases, such as Business Source Premier and CINAHL. These databases automatically add the ezproxy prefix to the permalink, or durable URL, which activates the authentication process for off-campus access. Example from the OmniFile: Photostreams to the People: The Commons on Flickr. Searcher v. 17 no. 8 (September 2009) p. 45-9 (http://ezproxy.memphis.edu/login?url=http://vnweb.hwwilsonweb.com/hww/jumpstart.jhtml?recid=0bc05f7a67b1790ee47db4c186ef7881c7a036a48b761d1ed732c20847045a389c0f54781b965ff2&fmt=H Example from CINAHL: Emerging Technologies Center: Nursing Education 2.0: Twitter and Tweets. Nursing Education Perspectives, 2008 Mar-Apr; 29(2): 110-2 http://ezproxy.memphis.edu/login?url=http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&db=c8h&AN=2009886354&site=ehost-live Example from Business Source Premier: Blogging as Social Media. Tourism & Hospitality Research, May 2007, Vol. 7 Issue 3/4, p287-289 http://ezproxy.memphis.edu/login?url=http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&db=buh&AN=26924228&site=ehost-live For help with creating ezproxied links to articles in other databases, see: Creating Copyright-Friendly E-Reading Lists (https://umwiki.memphis.edu/display/KayC/Copyright+Friendly+E-Reading+Lists) SearchesSome databases now include options for linking to searches. This would allow you to set up a search on a topic and then push the most recent results to your ecourseware. Here is a Wilson OmniFile search, (web 2.0) <in> Keyword, and the permanent link to it: http://ezproxy.memphis.edu/login?url=http://vnweb.hwwilsonweb.com/hww/jumpstart.jhtml?query=%3Cnear%3E%28web%2C2.0%29+%3Cin%3E+KW&prod=OMNIFT&fulltext=notchecked&eid=499997c31ced5141b7241c0595a19644 Licensed DatabasesIt is also possible to embed database records. Find the database using Database Search, open the record, and click on the "Persistent Link to this Record." This will generate a URL that can be pasted into your courseware as this example linking to JSTOR. Even though you are not linking directly to the database (students still have to click the "Connect to" link), using this method relieves you of having to worring about any future changes to the URL or about whether you have correctly included the ezproxy script. With the Database Search tool, changes need only be made once, and then they automatically populate into any records and subject lists generated by the search tool.
