This module covers three aspects of music and technology. The first aspect is music on the web, the second aspect is the mix between music and technology in the classroom setting, and the third is copyright and illegal downloading.

Music and the Web

Music is available on several online sites for listening and downloading. Some of it is free and some is for a charge. Even more, some of it is legal and some is illegal.

  • Music search engines that allow listening to favorite artists and songs.

Music Applications

There are tools that allow musicians and non-musicians to make music. One example is GarageBand.

Music and Learning

Music education has always been part of schools' curriculum. In music classes or in other classes, children are exposed to music. Studies have shown a positive effect of music on learning.

Music Integration

With the advent of the Internet and the availability of software, teachers are finding creative ways to teach music or to integrate in school projects.
