Getting Started

Tips for Teachers
    1. Start small. Begin by creating your own VoiceThread document and encourage students to add comments. As your students become more comfortable with VoiceThread, they can begin creating individual projects.
    2. Model appropriate comments for students. Give them prompts to start their comments like, "This reminds me of..." or "I'm surprised that..."
    3. Make sure to discuss internet safety and copyright issues when starting a VoiceThread project.
    4. Under one account, you can create several avatars. You can easily monitor students from your account.
    5. If your VoiceThread is public, make sure to monitor all comments.

Uses in Education

VoiceThread can be used for many purposes. As a teaching tool, lectures can be recorded and made available to students who were absent or as a review. Lecture notes and PowerPoint slides could be uploaded and the teacher would talk over the notes as well as draw on the slides to highlight key points. The teacher could also do the same with a digital picture taken of the chalkboard/whiteboard. Comments and questions from the students can be added, along with the teacher’s responses. VoiceThread can be used by students as a presentation tool. Collaborations and critiques can be added to the presentation via voice, text, or video.

You've done some really great work on this page. It is very informative and links to a good selection of examples and further resources.
As a few suggestions (1) you might consider moving the heading 'examples' and a few representative samples of VT being used to the top, under the general overview and (2) in the section on 'educational uses' you might distinguish between links to samples and links to additional information/resources. Just check the flow of your information and the placement of the links.
